This is a crochet pattern for a koala rattle and mini toy. The rattle has a rattle insert, and the toy has moveable joints which enable it to sit or lay flat – making it perfect as a comfort toy for wee ones.
The toy is approximately 13.5 cm high when standing and 15 cm from head to toe when laying flat, although the sizes may vary depending on the yarn you use to make your toys.
The pattern is suitable for anyone who has some experience with crochet, you will need to know how to make a chain, do single crochet stitches, increase and decrease using single crochet and how to work a magic ring.
With this koala crochet pattern, you will be able to make these cute koalas. I recommend using natural fibres for the outer cover (4 ply crochet cotton yarn) and with polyester fibre fill inside. To make these toys you will need:
• 4 ply cotton yarn (I use the 4 ply cotton yarn
(I used Bella Baby Tootgarook 4Ply Yarn 50 gm from Spotlight)
• main colour (pink, blue or aqua) approx. 50g/180m
• a small amount of black
• a small amount of white
• 1.75 mm crochet hook
• 70mm wooden teething ring for the rattle
• a small amount of food-safe wax (if the teething ring is raw or untreated)
• 6mm safety eyes (optional) – 2 for the rattle & 2 for the toy
• Polyester hobby fill for stuffing
• Rattle insert (optional) for the rattle
• Squeaker insert (optional) for the toy
• Sewing needle
